How to Prevent Holiday Hangover

Image
I know, I know... another 'how to' blog, ugh... Trust me, this one is different. First of all, it's me! Second, I have a little experience with this. So. what is a "Holiday Hangover" anyways? It is absolutely an over indulgence in holiday cheer. Just not the kind of cheer you think I'm talking about... eggnog, cranberry margaritas, nudges, or even mashed potatoes, and pie. I'm talking about the emotions generated during this time of year.  Cheer.  Joy.  Happiness.  Excitement.  Now, wait a darn minute! These are all good things, right? Well, ever heard of too much of a good thing?? It's not that we get too happy, or have too much joy in our lives during the holidays; rather, we have an EXPECTATION to feel all these emotions. As adults, we are making lists and checking them twice, or 3 or 5 times. We are planning parties, shopping, doing crafts, baking, wrapping, cleaning, organizing, decorating, and spending to create this "cheer" we

Observation vs Paricipation

August 2016 Observation VS Participation I have discovered the powerful lesson of this battle recently, and I'd like to share with you. The lesson is so valuable, so life changing, so important ...it must be shared. Let me start by explaining what it means to observe instead of participate in our thinking patterns.  When we have a thought, say we think about going to a party we've been invited to. What a pleasant thought! But we can get on the Thought Train to Destructive Land super easily; causing us to decline the invitation and stay home in our sweats with our cat and cheap wine. The moment we receive the invitation, we instantly have a gut feeling.  It may be, "Yeah, I like to party!" or "Ugh, I'll have to put a bra on." or maybe something in between.  From there our thoughts jump on

July 2016 Are you ready to Rumble?! Why, hello there! I have taken a 9 month break from writing... I could've built a baby in that time!!  Holy smokes!! That goes to say that I am extremely happy to get back in the saddle, or behind a computer, again and share my little mOMents of inspiration. Are your ready?  I AM!! In the time that I've been away from writing, I have done some deep, soul shaking exploring. Honestly, I felt forced off of this podium in which I share raw life experiences and how I've learned from them. Ugh... I felt judged, criticized and threatened. None of that felt good. I wanted to crawl into a cave and just live quietly...which I did for almost 9 months! The resentment, the anger, the pure frustration was taking me over. It wasn't until I started investing in myself that I started to really RUMBLE, aka: explore my ideas, about why I felt such venom for the situation. Well, here's what I've discovered.... RUMBLING is AMAZING! It is
