Faith

Image
Faith Oh dear.... it's not an April Fool's joke. I opened this blog, in draft format, and discovered the final touches I added before my weekend trip in Seattle with Cody, were gone. Like I never had those ideas, wrote all those words, or added the perfect image. Ugh.... This brings me to my original idea in the most wonderful way. After a few cuss words, I realized that when I read the small start that did save, my faith in myself was being tested. And I'll be damned if I didn't recognize it quickly, and shifted from cuss words to excitement for new ideas to share. Dude, I couldn't be more grateful that things happened the way they did. First of all, let's just ponder that thought I just said out loud. " I couldn't be more grateful that things happened the way they did. " This is a big statement. It applies to my entire life, not just this one blog. As I sat on my bed in downtown Seattle last night, I found myself gazing at the full moo...

Keep Marching

Image
Once a writer, always a writer. I've been writing most of my life, either poetry, short stories or essays. I've written a personal growth workshop along with many motivational and inspirational blogs. There's something magical for me when I sit down with pen & paper/keyboard. A long time ago, through some nasty custody proceedings, I was told to stop writing. "What if Cody reads what you wrote?" I was so scare of being seen in a negative light that I followed this advice. I stopped writing. You know what else I stopped? Believing in myself. What. The Fuck?! It's taken me tons of work, but I understand now how I let my fear dictate my actions. My kids don't have to go searching the internet to know my values. We have conversations about life all the time. Honest, vulnerable genuine conversations! I also understand that my fear was invalid. All along, I had nothing to be afraid of. I falsely believed that I was what I heard; a bad mom, an insuf...

How to Prevent Holiday Hangover

Image
I know, I know... another 'how to' blog, ugh... Trust me, this one is different. First of all, it's me! Second, I have a little experience with this. So. what is a "Holiday Hangover" anyways? It is absolutely an over indulgence in holiday cheer. Just not the kind of cheer you think I'm talking about... eggnog, cranberry margaritas, nudges, or even mashed potatoes, and pie. I'm talking about the emotions generated during this time of year.  Cheer.  Joy.  Happiness.  Excitement.  Now, wait a darn minute! These are all good things, right? Well, ever heard of too much of a good thing?? It's not that we get too happy, or have too much joy in our lives during the holidays; rather, we have an EXPECTATION to feel all these emotions. As adults, we are making lists and checking them twice, or 3 or 5 times. We are planning parties, shopping, doing crafts, baking, wrapping, cleaning, organizing, decorating, and spending to create this "cheer" we...

Observation vs Paricipation

Image
August 2016 Observation VS Participation I have discovered the powerful lesson of this battle recently, and I'd like to share with you. The lesson is so valuable, so life changing, so important ...it must be shared. Let me start by explaining what it means to observe instead of participate in our thinking patterns.  When we have a thought, say we think about going to a party we've been invited to. What a pleasant thought! But we can get on the Thought Train to Destructive Land super easily; causing us to decline the invitation and stay home in our sweats with our cat and cheap wine. (Not that there is ANYthing wrong with kitty snuggles and a glass of wine of your choice!) Let's hop aboard and watch the journey our thoughts go on. The moment we receive the invitation, we instantly have a gut feeling.  It may be, "Yeah, I like to party!" or "Ugh, I'll have to put a bra on." or maybe something in between.  From there our thoughts jump on ...

Are you ready to RUMBLE?!

Image
July 2016 Are you ready to Rumble?! Why, hello there! I have taken a 9 month break from writing... I could've built a baby in that time!!  Holy smokes!! That goes to say that I am extremely happy to get back in the saddle, or behind a computer, again and share my little mOMents of inspiration. Are your ready?  I AM!! In the time that I've been away from writing, I have done some deep, soul shaking exploring. Honestly, I felt forced off of this podium in which I share raw life experiences and how I've learned from them. Ugh... I felt judged, criticized and threatened. None of that felt good. I wanted to crawl into a cave and just live quietly...which I did for almost 9 months! The resentment, the anger, the pure frustration was taking me over. It wasn't until I started investing in myself that I started to really RUMBLE, aka: explore my ideas, about why I felt such venom for the situation. Well, here's what I've discovered.... RUMBLING is AMAZING! It is ...

Hot Mess

Ever been called a hot mess? I know I've said others were a hot mess! Honestly, I've looked in the mirror and admitted it's possible I fall into that label at times. But, what is a hot mess exactly? While the definition varies depending on how you look at it, the general consensus is that it is when a person's situation is in a state of disarray, confusion, disorganization or a mess. Whether it's the fashion statement, emotional state, or actual cleanliness of personal space...if it's in a confused, mumble jumble of chaos... IT IS A HOT MESS. In my personal life, I have been enduring a challenge that has made life kinda messy. This challenge has been the source of a lot of hurt, frustration, anger, and perspective. For years now, I have been forced to look within and evaluate myself. I went above and beyond, and evaluated every decision, every choice, every word spoken, every thought crossing my mind. What a mess. A big hot mess! Really though, we ar...

Embrace Your Inner Badass

If I were tell you that each and every one of you reading this right now is a badass individual with strength, courage, love and compassion beyond your wildest dreams, would you believe me? I have some pretty badass people in my life right now. And that doesn't mean that they'd kick your ass if you mess with me, although I know a few who would!!!, it means that everyone in my life at this moment is phenomenal in their own special way. All of my friends, family, coworkers, and yoga students blow me away with their awesomeness. Now, how did I end up with such an amazing group to surround and support me? I am a badass myself!! I'll be honest, I wasn't always a badass. In high school, they said I was because I had an obsession with the gym. I was strong, yes. I lifted weights with the football players, and hung out with body builders. But inside, I was uncertain, scared and lost. I actually traveled around in this 'badass costume' for many years. The b...
